Our Story

Built From Curiosity. Driven by Craft.

What started with a YouTube video and a piece of raw wood turned into a lifelong obsession with making things by hand.

Where It Began

A YouTube Rabbit Hole Changed Everything

About 15 years ago, I stumbled across a woodworking video online and thought — I can do that. No formal training, no workshop, no real plan. Just curiosity and a willingness to figure it out.

My first project was wooden rings. Small, simple, and completely handmade. There was something deeply satisfying about taking a raw piece of wood and turning it into something someone could actually wear. I was hooked.

Finding My Way

From Rings to Furniture to the Lathe

From rings, I moved into furniture — tables, shelves, pieces that filled a room and told a story. Then I discovered the wood lathe, and a whole new world opened up. I started turning magic wands, small bowls, anything I could get my hands on.

It was fun, creative, and endlessly challenging. But I kept coming back to the same question: what could I make that someone would actually use every single day?

The One That Stuck

Then Came the Cutting Board.

I tried my hand at a cutting board almost on a whim — and that was it. Something clicked. The process, the feel of the wood, the way a well-made board sits on a counter and just looks right. I was all in.

I started simple: clean lines, single wood species, functional and solid. Then I started experimenting with color — mixing different hardwoods to create bold stripe patterns, geometric designs, and eventually the signature multi-wood boards that Fat Boy Cutting Boards is known for today.

Every Board Is Personal.

I still make every board myself, by hand, the same way I made that first one. No shortcuts, no assembly line, no compromises. Just wood, tools, and the same obsessive attention to detail that got me into this in the first place.
